Danny Martinez, Southeast Regional Comprehensive Center at SEDL
Photo of Danny Martinez. Danny Martinez is a program associate with SEDL's Improving School Performance program. Martinez leads the provision of field services, including professional development, technical assistance, and resource dissemination in the area of technology integration. He is the teacher quality liaison to the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality. He also leads the development of multimedia products for SEDL's Science, Technology and Mathematics program, including the website, DVD, CD, and video. Martinez has worked with teachers from across the United States and most recently, with African teachers and students. He has presented at numerous regional, national, and international conferences. Before joining SEDL in 1999, Martinez taught desktop publishing, Web mastering, photography, and journalism at Houston's Briarwood School (a school for children with learning differences). He has directed numerous programs for at-risk children, including Houston Adventure Play, EXPLORE, and Austin's Sunshine Camps and Sunshine Challenge. Martinez holds a master's of experiential education from Minnesota State University at Mankato.

Janice Zube, Louisiana Department of Education
Photo of Janice Zube. Janice Zube has been the Louisiana Department of Education's Title IIA State Coordinator since 1999. She and her staff are responsible for ensuring the statewide implementation the federal teacher quality mandates established in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Ms. Zube is also responsible for the administration and implementation of the statewide Local Teacher Quality Block Grant program funded through the Louisiana Education Quality Trust Fund 8(g). This program provides fiscal and personnel assistance to participating public and non-public schools and systems to address the need for teachers meeting the HQT requirements throughout the state. Ms. Zube and her staff travel extensively throughout the state to provide assistance to school districts to ensure all students are taught by experienced and highly qualified teachers. As a Section Administrator in the Office of Educator Support in the Louisiana Department of Education, Ms. Zube has been actively involved in the development and implementation of Louisiana's Equity Plan.

Jeffrey Max, National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality
Photo of Jeffrey Max. Jeffrey Max, a research associate at Learning Point Associates, conducts program evaluations and policy analyses in the area of teacher quality. Max is currently evaluating two alternative certification programs that received funding through the federal Transition to Teaching grant. The evaluations involve a variety of data collection activities, including in-person interviews, teacher surveys, and analyses of teacher data. Max contributes to the work of both the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality and the Center for Educator Compensation Reform, developing guides and tools to inform policymakers. Prior to working at Learning Point Associates, Max served as a research analyst at Mathematica Policy Research, working on large-scale evaluations in the areas of education and welfare. His work at Mathematica involved a focus on qualitative data collection and analysis. Max earned his MPA from Columbia University.

Amy Jackson, National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality
Photo of Jeffrey Max. Amy Jackson is deputy director of the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality. She has a wide array of educational experiences and expertise in teacher quality program development and implementation as well as examination design. Prior to Learning Point Associates, Jackson worked with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) for eight years as administrator of examinations, teacher development, and research as well as a director of teacher examination programs. In addition, Jackson was responsible for the administration of several large-scale teacher development initiatives and also participated as a member of the senior management team for the CCTC executive director. Before CCTC, Jackson was affiliated with WestEd in San Francisco, providing regional technical assistance to state and local education agencies in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington and developing classroom-based assessments for students and teachers. Earlier in her career, Jackson worked at the Connecticut and Virginia Departments of Education; and she was a K–12 art teacher in Richmond, Virginia. Jackson has completed the coursework for a doctorate in quantitative methodology from the University of California–Berkeley. She holds a master's degree in educational psychology and measurement from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor's degree in visual and performing arts with a K–12 teaching credential from Virginia Commonwealth University.
