“Enhancing Teacher Evaluation: A Critical Lever for Improving Teaching and Learning”
TQ Center Workshop
May 10–11, 2010
Washington D.C.—Crystal City
During the workshop, participants attended three concurrent sessions related to improving teacher evaluation:
- Building a quality teacher evaluation system
- Evaluating teachers of at-risk populations
- Using teacher evaluation results to improve teaching and learning
In addition, sessions on engaging stakeholders in reform and addressing the third-rail issues of teacher tenure and dismissal were held. The workbook Thinking Systemically: Steps for States to Improve Teacher Effectiveness, which leads states and regional comprehensive centers through critical steps toward developing strong teacher evaluation systems, guided conversations among participants during working sessions.
