The National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality hosts live, interactive webcasts devoted to bringing solutions to issues of teaching in at-risk schools from the research, policy, and practice perspectives. Each webcast includes pre-webcast presentations that outline the problems associated with the issue and a post-webcast online discussion forum.

This webcast examined the policy, research, and practice of performance-based compensation, specifically focusing on valid, reliable, and ethical ways to evaluate teachers' instructional performance. Experts discussed the promise and pitfalls of value-added and other statistical measures of student achievement growth as well as teaching portfolios and professional administrator evaluations.

The National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality hosted an informational webcast for Regional Comprehensive Centers and Content Centers. The webcast sought to outline the mission and goals of National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality; describe the ongoing and upcoming work and activities; introduce the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality staff; raise the awareness about the issue of teacher quality; and create an opportunity for dialogue between National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality, the comprehensive centers, and other content centers.
Raising Student Achievement Through the Equitable Distribution of Teachers (March 30, 2006)
To help states improve their state plans for highly qualified teachers in every classroom, the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality and the U.S. Department of Education teamed up to offer a webcast specifically for regional comprehensive centers and state Title II—Part A and highly qualified teacher representatives. During the one-hour webcast on September 7, 2006, panelists discussed the purpose of the state plans and the elements of a successful plan; provided overall impressions of the state plans submitted in July; and identified several resources, best practices, and innovative strategies for states to consider as they work toward improved state plans.
Teacher Turnover in At-Risk Schools (September 22, 2005)
On September 22, 2005, Learning Point Associates, Education Commission of the States, ETS, and the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future (NCTAF) cohosted Teacher Turnover in At-Risk Schools, a live Webcast focused on promising solutions in teacher recruitment and retention efforts in our nation's low-performing, high-poverty schools.
