Technical Assistance in Action: Equitable Distribution

The TQ Center hosted a technical assistance workshop on the equitable distribution of teachers.

With the increased national focus on the equitable distribution of teachers and the recently authorized American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the TQ Center saw a need in serving its RCC and SEC constituents with the latest policy, research, and strategies on addressing the equitable distribution of teachers.

Response

On June 30 and July 1, 2009, the TQ Center brought together experts and practitioners to discuss current legislation, existing research, practical strategies, and resources on the equitable distribution of highly qualified teachers. The primary goal of the workshop was to provide participants with the necessary resources and information to assist them in creating a plan to address the equitable distribution of quality teachers in their states. Participants actively engaged in three working sessions centered on the following topics:

• Defining equitable distribution metrics for their states
