Annual "What Works" Conferences

What Gen Y Teachers Want
National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality Director Sabrina Laine, Ph.D., comments, "The education establishment should listen to what teachers say they need and afford them the freedom, resources, and true support to provide our children with a quality education." Further, "Teachers are treated like commodities, but they are the architects of America's intellectual capital and collectively responsible for our future earning power, which should not be undervalued." The complete press release is available.

Second Annual "What Works" Conference
The 2007 conference focused on connections between teacher quality, leadership quality, and student outcomes with an emphasis on teaching and leading in at-risk schools and for students with special needs. The interrelationship between teacher quality and leadership provides a strong foundation for improving student achievement, especially when effective leadership is the linchpin of an effective education system—a system of aligned, coordinated, adaptive, and sustainable policies that work for all learners.
