Teacher Effectiveness and ARRA
In order to determine whether state actions are functioning to improve teacher effectiveness, states must first create a definition of teacher effectiveness that highlights those aspects of teacher activities and responsibilities of value in the state. To aid states in meeting these goals, the TQ Center has developed the following resources:
Workshop: Research to Practice
On April 28, 2009, the TQ Center hosted “Evaluating Teacher Effectiveness: A Workshop Connecting Research to Policy and Practice.” The workshop summary and research resources to help states address issues related to effectiveness are available.
Using ARRA Funds Webcast
On September 30, 2009, the TQ Center hosted the Using ARRA Funds to Improve Teacher Effectiveness and Equitable Distribution webcast. The webcast featured an overview of the online Interactive Mapping Tool and presentations on how states can use the tool to think strategically and systemically about the use of ARRA funds to address teacher quality issues.
Additional Resources
The TQ Center has developed additional resources to assist states as they develop plans for supporting and evaluating teacher effectiveness.
